Gifty Ghansah, Headteacher
The African Science Academy is headed by Ms Gifty Ghansah, who joined ASA with extensive experience as an educator in the UK and Ghana. She was most recently Vice Principal and Head of Mathematics at a leading Academy in London where she taught for 14 years. Gifty believes in an education that develops students academically, emotionally and mentally to prepare them for the challenges and opportunities they will go on to face.

Jennifer Mensah, Admin and Communications Manager
Jennifer leads the Admin & Pastoral Team of the school. Having worked in the Admin Department of ASA, first as the Admissions Officer then as the Admin and Communications Officer, she has vast experience in educational administration and management . She is committed to advocating for equality for girls and driving change in Africa through communication and STEM.

Michael Tornyo, Physics Teacher
Michael Tornyo has a background in Electrical Engineering. He has worked as a Network Operations Engineer for MTN-Ghana NOC, has taught IGCSE, A-Level Physics, IB MYP Physics, IB DP Physics and IB CP Engineering. He was recently selected as an expert to review Ghana’s new science curriculum for Basic 7 to 10. He believes students deserve quality instruction with the opportunity to interact with one another and the instructor.

Maxwell Amoah, Maths Teacher and College Counselor
Maxwell teaches A-level mathematics and further mathematics. His interest is in building a strong mathematics foundation that will empower ASA students to succeed in STEM. He is also passionate about students’ successful transition into college, and so supports them in their university and scholarship applications.

Elijah is passionate about working with youth and high school students to empower them mathematically and also has a strong commitment to enhancing and supporting mathematics and science education.

Committed to fostering an inclusive environment, Eric inspires female students to explore their interests in science and technology, aiming to bridge the gender gap and empower the next generation of female scientists and innovators.

With a background in Physics, I am passionate about supporting students in their STEM journeys. As a teaching assistant, I aim to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where curiosity thrives. My background in physics allows me to simplify complex concepts and inspire students to explore the wonders of science and mathematics. I believe in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, empowering students to reach their full potential. Beatrice works to coordinate student recruitment across Africa. She works with volunteers, together with the ASA admissions team to ensure that students have a smooth application process and are onboarded successfully into the African Science Academy.
